About the Workshop

Do u have an old stash of costume jewellery you don’t wear ? This workshop is about redesigning and making one of a kind jewellery from your unused costume jewellery. This revised costume jewellery workshop invites you to create something unique by repurposing, upcycling and revising old materials and giving them a new lease of life. We will explore basic cold metalworking skills including wirework, jewellery repair skills, making simple findings such as jump rings and fasteners. There is also a strong design element, learning how to assess something, take it apart, redesign and revise it. Once you have learned those skills, you’ll be able to create more designs at home. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of jewellery making. We take a relaxed, supportive and playful approach to redesigning, revising and upcycling your costume jewellery. A maximum of 8 people around the table means that you get plenty of one-to-one tutor time to help with your design and learn the skills to take your old jewellery apart and recreate it into something different. Please bring along several pieces of your unused costume jewellery, that you are comfortable taking apart and remodelling. You can also bring quirky vintage and found items. You will receive a sketch book for your design ideas, and a box to take your creation home with you. Small extras such as jump rings and fasteners will be available, but the focus is on using all elements of your costume jewellery so nothing is wasted.
